I said at the time, She is too young

He gestures that he is afraid Saima will leave him one day, and says that God will be unhappy if she does. They will marry when she reaches puberty.Haseena was 10 when Saima married her uncle Ramzan and her mother left to live with the new brides father. Asma already has been promised to her cousin, who is about 10.In Saimas world of crushing poverty, where centuries-old tribal traditions mix with religious beliefs, a crippling cycle traps even the perpetrators with a lifes burden: a father who longs for a son to help support his family; a wife who must provide that son; a daughter who must become a mother even when she is still a child.

She gestures as if breaking a twig to explain her troubled knee. Ramzan gestures that he wants Saima to take some medicine to help her get pregnant again. They cant be left at home alone for fear of unwanted ***ual activity - or worse, the daughter leaves home with a boy of her choice. Most of the translations are done by his 12-year-old niece, Haseena, Sabeels China Wholesale PVC Shower curtains daughter from the previous marriage."She says she accepted her husbands marriage to another woman; after all, its her fault he only has daughters.Like Ramzan, she can neither hear nor speak.Ramzan looks at Saima, her hair hidden beneath a sweeping shawl, her large brown eyes downcast."We gave a girl in this family for a girl in their family," Ahmed says.Haseena stayed in the house with her uncle and her elderly grandparents to cook, clean and keep Saima company. But the legal marrying age here is 16, and in a rare move, police did investigate Saimas marriage after they received a complaint, possibly from a relative involved in a dispute with her father. We would have no honor. She says girls are a headache after they reach puberty. The 36-year-old Ramzan smiles, eager to please, as he uses his fingers to count out her age when they married.Ramzans elderly parents live with him.Ramzan and Ahmed were jailed for a few days, but Saima testified in court that she was 16 and they were released.Ahmed sees the hand of God in his daughters marriage to a disabled man. But Sabeel wouldnt marry him until her brother had a wife to care for him.A girl may be given away to pay a debt or settle a dispute between feuding families. She wanted him to have a wife. He held his hand up just below his chest, showing how tall she was when they married. He says that the fact that Ramzan is nearly three times his daughters age is irrelevant. She might be married to a cousin to keep her dowry in the family or, as in this case, married for the prospect of a male heir. She would be a bride in exchange for a bride. But he knew his wife, Saima, was too young when she was given to him as a bride. His mother begs from morning until night, sometimes knocking on doors, other times parking herself in the middle of a dusty road, her hand outstretched for donations. His father rarely leaves his bed, saying he has trouble walking.Haseena recalls that Saima seemed so young, the family felt sorry for her. "That is our right.Jampur: Mohammad Ramzan can neither hear nor speak, and he has a childlike mind.

"When Saima married my uncle, my mother told me to leave school and be with Saima because she will be all alone at home," Haseena says. I myself allowed my husband to get a second wife," she says."No one had been willing to give their daughters to my brother," she says.Saima rarely looks in his direction but says she has no quarrel with him, nor does she plan to leave."It was by Gods will that he was chosen," he says. Her husband often reaches to touch the top of her head."I feel shame that I dont have a son. until 13, and then he stops and looks at her, points and nods several times. When they reach puberty quickly, we have to marry them," she says. Saima had gotten pregnant soon after she came to live with Ramzan but lost the child at five months. .Saima doesnt talk much."His sister and my father fell in love and they exchanged me," Saima says."At her age, she should have been playing."I didnt want to marry her so young. Both her hips and one knee have been broken. Her answers are short, and matter-of-fact. "Daughters are a burden, but the sons, they are the owners of the house.Saima says she understands her husbands gestures, but its hard to know. I said at the time, She is too young, but everyone said I must," he says through a series of gestures interpreted by those around him.."Back at Saimas old home, her 7-year-old sister, Asma, wanders around, shoeless, her hair matted with dirt and dust.Ramzan is quick to extend his hand to guests who enter through the torn and tattered curtain that hangs over the front door to his compound, tucked away in a narrow alley lined with open sewers.

They bite, Ahmed warns. His first wife, Saimas mother, had given him only daughters, and he hoped his second wife would give him a son. It mattered only that she had reached puberty when he arranged her marriage as an exchange: his daughter for Ramzans sister, whom he wanted to take as a second wife. "It was her fate."In deeply conservative regions such as this one in the south of Punjab province, the tribal practice of exchanging girls between families is so entrenched, it even has its own name in Urdu: Watta Satta, which means give and take. .Saimas mother, Janaat, agrees with marrying off her daughters early."She picks at the rope bed where she sits with Ramzan."Yes, I am afraid of my father, but it is his decision who I will marry and when."If it is not done, our society thinks parents have not fulfilled their religious obligation," says Faisal Tangwani, regional coordinator for the independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan in nearby Multan. Outside, stray dogs roam in packs of three and four."That would be a shame for us. She even prepared Saimas wedding dinner. No. One, two, three .The girls father, Wazir Ahmed, says she was 14, not 13, but her age was beside the point."Ahmed sits inside the mud-walled compound where he lives now with his two wives. Her husbands new wife, Sabeel, says she agreed to marry Ahmed because of her brother. She says she told the authorities she was 16 to protect her father and husband. Many believe that their Islamic religion instructs fathers to marry off their daughters at puberty

This context is important to understand the early days of the future

Washington: His white hair carefully combed and a calm demeanor that seems unflappable, Jeff Sessions above all radiates a reassuring good nature. But this ultra-conservative close ally of President Donald Trump, who named him US attorney general, is a total tactician, a rod in the wind. When the two 70-year-old men stand next to each other, the contrast is hard to imagine.Trump is tall and hefty; the diminutive Sessions looks a little frail. The first is exuberant and his speech bombastic.

The second has a piping voice and chooses his words carefully. As for background and family, they underscore the opposites: Trump is a billionaire businessman born in New York; Sessions grew up in the segregated Deep South, where his father owned a store serving rural customers. The first is criticized for his lavish tastes and over-the-top bling. The other is teased for his frugal lifestyle. The president boasts about his female conquests and has been married three times, to an actress and two former models. His faithful justice leader chose a schoolteacher who is active in local charities -- the couple is nearing their 50th wedding anniversary.Anti-establishment alliance Still, there is a crucial common point between Trump and Sessions: hardly anyone thought 15 months ago they would have a brilliant political future.

The first was a property tycoon and reality-television star. The second was a senator from the medium-sized state of Alabama and a marginal player in the Republican Party. They forged an anti-establishment alliance and together fixed their ambitions on a path that led them to Washington. Sessions was the first senator to endorse Trump during the campaign. They share the same convictions about an America rotting from illegal immigration, where white workers are unfairly pushed aside, Christian values are no longer respected and public order is sacrificed to pervasive permissiveness. Now Sessions is facing accusations that he lied under oath in his Senate confirmation hearing about his contacts last year with the Russian ambassador, at a time when Moscow was suspected of interfering in the US presidential election in favor of Trump. On Thursday, facing calls for him to resign, Sessions, with a smile, said he was recusing himself from any investigation of the presidential campaign.Shortly before his announcement, Trump had declared his "total" confidence in Sessions.

The president would be extremely reluctant to lose his right arm.Named after Confederate president Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III received the first name of his father and his grandfather, who himself was named after Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederate southern states that fought to secede during the 19th century Civil War.This context is important to understand the early days of the future senator, in an Alabama emerging with difficulty from a culture based on black slavery and racial segregation.Sessions was born in Selma, a city known for its police brutality against peaceful protesters seeking equal rights for African-Americans.For his critics, the University of Alabama law school graduate continues to display this racist heritage, and supports the death penalty Polyester Shower curtain Suppliers while opposing abortion.Controversial remarks he made during the 1980s have dogged his career, but did not derail his confirmation as attorney general last month, by a Republican-majority Senate. He was a federal prosecutor in Alabama from 1981 to 1993, where his handling of several controversial cases saw him labeled racist by African-Americans.In 1986 his nomination by president Ronald Reagan for a federal judgeship sparked a tide of anger from black people that led to his rejection.During witness testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sessions admitted that -- when told that a white lawyer had been called a "disgrace to his race" for defending African-Americans -- he had responded by saying: "Well, maybe he is."Sessions is thought to have largely inspired Trumps anti-immigration stance and crackdown on unauthorized immigrants. As attorney general, he guides the central agency for enforcement of federal laws, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Also just having the surname isn’t sufficient

It’s not always that the one who’s born with a silver spoon in his mouth goes on to become king. Succession in politics has been both good and bad. And in many cases, the struggle to claim that success — which some consider to be their birthright — still continues.Examples are plenty, but with the death of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief J. Jayalalithaa, the issue of succession is back on the table. Jayalalithaa herself snatched the success from someone else’s hand — at least that is what many claim. If articles dated 1988 are to be believed, a major part of the then AIADMK, believed that Janaki Ramachandran, the wife of party founder M.G.

Ramachandran, was the rightful claimant of the post. And it’s no wonder it was Janaki who sat on the coveted chief minister’s seat after the death of MGR.However, the joy was short-lived as within 24 days she lost the seat thanks to the Rajiv Gandhi government dethroning her using the powers lying with the central government. She contested elections, but the AIADMK was divided into two factions, with the other one headed by Jayalalithaa. However, Janaki’s faction managed to win only two seats. Janaki, the woman who was alleged by Jayalalithaa’s supporters to have been running the government from behind the curtain when MGR was unwell, decided to quit politics.Andhra Pradesh presents another case study. Lakshmi Parvathi, widow of N.T. Rama Rao, was pegged by many reports to be leading the campaign in the 1996 Lok Sabha polls. A report in a well-read magazine had pegged Parvathi as a winner and an even better orator than Chandrababu Naidu. Even the Congress had then considered Parvathi to be a bigger opponent. However, the results were different, as she couldn’t win a single seat. Though many people wrote her political obituary, Parvathi managed to remain in the news as one of the bitter rivals of Naidu.

In the lead up to the 1996 polls, Parvathi was quoted in an article as saying she would continue to remain the chief minister for 20 years like Jyoti Basu in West Bengal.Lakshmi Parvathi, widow of N.T. Rama Rao.In Maharashtra, Raj Thackeray was spoken of as a replica of his uncle Bal Thackeray, the founder of Shiv Sena. Everyone saw him as the heir of the Sena — he had everything on his side, from Bal Thackeray’s style of talking to his to gift for sketching. However, Bal Thackeray picked his own son, Uddhav, as his heir, which forced Raj to float his own party. When Raj floated his party in March 2006, Shivaji Park was packed; it was impossible to set foot in the ground, as the crowd was humongous. His oratory, which could easily be mistaken for his uncle’s, drew the masses. However, the magic started fading, as in the 2007 BMC polls, Raj’s party, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), didn’t manage to make much of an impact and many cast doubts on his political future. But within a year he, like his uncle, used the anti-north Indian card to become famous. By the 2009 Assembly polls, Raj managed to get 13 MLAs elected and in the the 2012 BMC polls the MNS got more than 25 corporators. However, Raj lost popularity at the same speed he gained it. People still thronged his rallies but the swelling crowds didn’t materialise into votes. In the 2014 assembly polls all his trusted lieutenants lost the elections and only one won, and he was an import from Shiv Sena at that. Raj still resorts to antics like threatening film producers to remain in the news, but the leader’s following has been limited to a very small voter base. The other example from Maharashtra is Supriya Sule, who has in-house competition from her cousin Ajit Pawar, who is a stronger force with whom the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders like to reckon with, despite Sule being the daughter of party founder Sharad Pawar. Though like Jaganmohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh, Ms Sule also cannot be completely written off, as both have won elections and do possess a mass base.MGR’s wife Janaki Ramachandran. On the other hand, one of the biggest losers could be Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who succeeded Jyoti Basu, the longest serving Shower Curtain Manufacturers chief minister in history. However, in the immediate election after Basu’s death the Communists lost their bastion in West Bengal, and haven’t been able to reclaim it ever since.

Many a time, just a surname or connection isn’t enough; the surname might get you to the top, but to remain there, one has to know all the tricks and sometimes even buy new tricks from the market.Jose George, former head of department, Politics, Mumbai University, claims the problem with most people who failed despite having the surname and legacy of the supreme leader is that they came up only after the leader’s demise. "Janaki Ramachandran wasn’t seen much while Jayalalithaa was already an MP. So the latter managed to pull it off. These politicians, be it Lakshmi Parvathi or Buddhadeb, came into prominence only after their leader’s death. Also just having the surname isn’t sufficient. What one needs is charisma to take forward the legacy," said Mr George. The academic suggests that Sasikala won’t have much trouble taking forward Amma’s legacy, because she has been seen with Jaya for almost two decades now.

That may happen one day

Edmund Rath, a 53-year-old from Austria, wants to do simple things such as brush his teeth and slice bread. Most people take such activities for granted but not Rath, who lost his arm just below the shoulder in a truck accident last year that ended his career as a builder. That bad luck was followed by a stroke of fortune. He was chosen by Austrian surgeons as the first person to have a single operation in May to install a click-on prosthesis that the brain controls with signals to the missing hand. The procedure, known as ‘osseointegration’ (OI), involved implanting a metal rod into the bone of his residual limb. The rod has an external attachment that anchors his prosthesis to his upper arm bone.During the operation - which was screened live to an industry congress in Vienna - doctors also took nerves once used to control his hand and connected them to muscles in his upper arm, a procedure called ‘Targeted Muscle Reinnervation’.

Now when he imagines moving his hand, the muscles in his shoulder contract and are read by electrodes in his prosthesis that does the intended movement.Rath’s challenge is to build up strength and learn the skills to make the so-called ‘simple’ activities possible."I don’t want to change the world, but everyday things are my goal and I want to be able to do these things as quickly as possible," Rath told Reuters. His experience could have global implications. Millions of people live with limb loss, including around 2 million in the United States alone. And the numbers are expected to grow due to rising prevalence of diseases like diabetes.Demand is particularly strong among US soldiers who lost limbs in wars in the Middle East, according to Horst Aschoff, an expert in OI at the Hannover Medical School in Germany. The technology to fuse prostheses to the body has changed little for centuries. They are connected to the amputee’s stump via a customised socket but they can become sweaty, cause skin irritations and restrict movement so users often end up not wearing them.OI was first discovered in the 1950s by Swedish researcher Per-Ingvar Branemark and is used for dental implants. The first amputee to receive an OI implant was in Sweden in 1990.

The surgery is conducted in the West, mainly on lower limb amputees. Experts in Europe, Australia and the United States are leading a drive to find solutions.Rath said the OI implant allows him to move his arm freely compared to the restricted movement afforded by the socket. But learning to use his robotic arm, which was supplied by artificial limb maker Ottobock, takes daily practice."You need to fully concentrate when you want to properly control it (the arm) and that sap’s one energy," he said at Ottobock’s research center in Vienna. It took six weeks for the implanted nerves to grow into his muscles and he can now control six different functions of his robotic arm, such as opening and closing his hand. One feature of OI is that users can feel some sensation from mechanical vibration in their skeleton, otherwise known as osseoperception, but there is currently no commercially-available product to restore a sense of touch. That may happen one day.British start-up Cambridge Bio-Augmentation Systems (CBAS) is working on a ‘Prosthetic Interface Device’ (PID), a neural interface that is integrated into the bone, the skin and the nervous system. Out from the end of the limb is a standard connector that can plug onto a range of devices. The PID could give users control of any limb, alongside sensory feedback by applying a small electric current to the nerve that can be sent back to the adjustable bath and shower chair factory brain and perceived as touch and temperature, said Oliver Armitage, co-founder and chief scientific officer."We think of it like a USB connector from the body."(Source)

Hill to become one of the Australian Open’s sponsor

The players said they have known the issue existed but they doubt any top players have been involved. 45-ranked Verdasco said he did not approve of gambling on tennis matches. But I can’t take it out," Verdasco said. The report said that half of those players were at this year’s Australian Open but did not name names.Andy Murray finds it "hypocritical" that tennis authorities are trying to stamp out match-fixing run by gambling syndicates but have partnered with a major gambling company that is now advertising on the Australian Open’s show courts. "I think it’s a little bit hypocritical," Murray added."The distinction to make is that betting itself is not an illegal pastime and many people do bet on sport. Honestly, it’s on a borderline, I would say," Djokovic said. "I’m not really pro that," Murray, a four-time finalist in Melbourne said Tuesday, after advancing to the second round. 2-ranked Murray and other top players, including Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, say authorities could be doing more to combat the problem.

The two issues are separate but have collided at this year’s Australian Open, where tennis was overshadowed for a second day Tuesday by allegations that match-fixing has gone unchecked in tennis.Fernando Verdasco joined the conversation, after staging the tournament’s biggest upset so far by beating Rafael Nadal in a first-round five-setter Tuesday. The controversy ignited Monday when the BBC and Buzzfeed News published reports alleging that the sport’s highest authorities had ignored evidence of match-fixing involving 16 players who had been ranked in the top 50 over the past decade. "You know, because I don’t believe the players are allowed to be sponsored by betting companies, but the tournaments are."A day earlier, No. "We are trying to fight against that.Kermode added that legitimate betting agencies could even help tennis authorities to spot corruption, since stamping out illegal gambling benefits them too."I would take out the betting."

"Tennis is a beautiful (sport)," said China bathroom shower shelf Raonic, after winning his first-round match. I think it’s a bit strange.No. 1-ranked Djokovic called it "borderline"."Tennis officials defended the partnership with gambling sponsors and provided an explanation that one Australian paper, The Age, called "positive topspin. I don’t really understand how it all works. The governing bodies for tennis have presented a unified front in rejecting the claims, and highlighted the fact that five players and an official had received life bans after investigations from the Tennis Integrity Unit which was set up in 2008. He called it unfortunate that "the attention of the first Grand Slam of the year is more on that than the Australian Open. For the first time at Melbourne Park, electronic advertising boards at Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and Hisense Arena display the name "William Hill" during breaks in play.Murray said the sport was sending mixed mesغير مجاز مي باشدes by allowing betting company William Hill to become one of the Australian Open’s sponsor’s this year and advertise on the tournament’s three main show courts. "It’s a fine line. "Whether you want to have betting companies involved in the big tournaments in our sport or not, it’s hard to say what’s right and what’s wrong."ATP chairman Chris Kermode said that betting on sports was "a legal pastime" — not to be confused with corrupt forms of gambling like match-fixing. What we are talking about is corruption," he told a news conference Monday called to reject claims that any evidence on match-fixing had been suppressed or gone unchecked. The No."

C metallidurans plays a key role in the formation

The bacteria produces tiny gold nuggets as a side-effect, according to the study published in the journal Metallomics. Now, researchers have found that gold enters the bacteria the same way as copper, which is a vital trace element for C metallidurans, however it is toxic in large quantities. It transforms the toxic gold particles formed by the weathering process into harmless gold particles, thereby producing gold nuggets, researchers said.

A team of researchers from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in Germany has discovered the molecular processes that take place inside the bacteria. The rod-shaped bacterium C metallidurans primarily lives in soils that are enriched with numerous heavy metals.A metal-gobbling bacteria manages to ingest toxic metallic compounds and still thrive, producing tiny gold nuggets as a side-effect, scientists have found. When the copper and gold particles come into contact with the bacteria, a range of chemical processes occur: Copper, which usually occurs in a form that is difficult to be taken up, is converted to a form that is considerably easier for the bacterium to import and thus is able Shower Chairs Manufacturers to reach the interior of the cell."There is enough hydrogen to conserve energy and nearly no competition," said Professor Dietrich H Nies, a microbiologist at MLU. This assures that fewer copper and gold compounds enter the cellular interior.High concentrations of heavy metals, like copper and gold, are toxic for most living creatures, researchers said. Over time some minerals break down in the soil and release toxic heavy metals and hydrogen into their environment."However, when gold compounds are also present, the enzyme is suppressed and the toxic copper and gold compounds remain inside the cell.Another consequence: the gold compounds that are difficult to absorb transform in the outer area of the cell into harmless gold nuggets only a few nanometres in size," said Nies.

However, that is not the case for the bacterium C metallidurans, which has found a way to extract valuable trace elements from a compound of heavy metals without poisoning itself. In nature, C metallidurans plays a key role in the formation of so-called secondary gold, which emerges following the breakdown of primary, geologically created, ancient gold ores.To solve this problem, the bacteria activate another enzyme - CopA.This enzyme transforms the copper and gold compounds into their originally difficult to absorb forms. Copper and gold combined are actually more toxic than when they appear on their own," said Nies. When too much copper has accumulated inside the bacteria, it is normally pumped out by the enzyme CupA, researchers say."If an organism chooses to survive here, it has to find a way to protect itself from these toxic substances," said Nies."The bacterium is poisoned less and the enzyme that pumps out the copper can dispose of the excess copper unimpeded.Together with Professor Frank Reith from the University of Adelaide in Australia, Nies was able to prove in 2009 that C metallidurans is able to deposit gold biologically. The same happens to the gold compounds.

Dull Moment isn’t an overbearing trip to purgatory

He blithely dismisses punk as being mostly about nostalgia, and his assertion that the Rolling Stones did little musically interesting since 1971 might make you want to whap him on the head with the album sleeve for Some Girls.Members of Rolling Stones (from left) Charlie Watts, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Ron Wood posing during a photo shoot. This was the year of Led Zeppelin IV, the Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers, Rod Stewart's Every Picture Tells a Story and David Bowie’s Hunky Dory. Specifically, he says 1971 was pretty much the most innovative, explosive and awesome year of the rock era. In 1971, Elvis was taking the stage to the self-important strains of Also Sprach Zarathustra for shows in which fans paid high ticket prices to hear the hits and "bask in a precious moment of shared proximity" with their idol.By that time, he was long dead from an overdose of antidepressants. It's fun, mostly.

Hepworth knows how to tell a story, be it about Motown mogul Berry Gordy's reaction to Marvin Gaye’s landmark single What's Going On ("the worst piece of crap I ever heard") or the jet-set hippie excesses of Mick and Bianca Jagger's wedding. (Photo: AP) If there is a Rock and Roll Hell, an inner circle is devoted for old fans who insist on telling you how the music was so much better back in the day.But he memorably writes about troubled artists like Karen Carpenter and Nick Drake. In other words, the sort of high-priced nostalgia shows the cool kids of 1971 have put on for decades now. And, admittedly, Hepworth has a lot of material to work with. The King was past his prime in 1971, but Hepworth employs him as a sort of white jump-suited ghost of Rock Future. This also was the year of Who’s Next by The Who.Hepworth occasionally veers into get-off-my-lawn territory. His music never got much exposure until late in the century when his indie-sounding songs showed up in a Volkswagen commercial and Hollywood movie soundtracks. His curse was being decades ahead of his time. Yet Never a Dull Moment isn’t an overbearing trip to purgatory.

Oh, and Elvis appears in this book, Shower Curtain Rods Manufacturers too.David Hepworth, a veteran British music journalist in his mid-60s, has essentially written an entire bookmaking this argument. Drake was a shy upper-class kid whose particular talent was to be able to write and perform beautifully ethereal rock songs. Hepworth argues that the lead-off track, Baba O’Riley, propelled by that distinctive synthesizer riff and thundering power chords, is a high-water mark of an incredible year and a precursor to what would become known as arena rock. You know the argument: musicians were more creative, the songs were better, etc

Ansari is a well-known mafia don-turned-politician

Sources in the party said that after the chief minister made the statement at the function, tension was palpable in the parliamentary board meeting in which notable absentees were Azam Khan and ******onmay Nanda. Mr Ram Gopal Yadav, party general secretary, told reporters that the parliamentary board also decided that Mr Akhilesh Yadav would take out a Samajwadi Vikas Yatra in the coming months to spread awareness about the developmental programmes undertaken by his government."

The reference was obviously to the strain on his relationship with his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav who had announced the QED merger in the absence of the chief minister. The matter was left to the Yadav clan to decide. It is reported that the chief minister and Mr Ram Gopal Yadav were unrelenting on the issue and said that the QED merger would have an adverse impact on the clean image that Mr Akhilesh Yadav had cultivated over the past four-and-a-half years..Hours after UP chief minister UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said at a function on Saturday that he did not want ‘people like Mukhtar Ansari’ in the Samajwadi Party, the Samajwadi Party parliamentary board cancelled the merger with the Qaumi Ekta Dal (QED). The chief minister also referred to reports of a China adjustable bath and shower chairs manufacturers rift in the Yadav clan on the issue and said, "Yeh chacha-bhatija ki baat hai, aapas me suljha lenge. The cancellation of the QED merger into the Samajwadi Party brings the curtain down on a week-long drama over the issue and also indicates that chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, for the first time, managed to prevail over his father Mulayam Singh who had earlier approved the merger.

Mukhtar Ansari is a well-known mafia don-turned-politician who is lodged in jail since 2005 on the charges of the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai.The parliamentary board meeting, chaired by SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav, however, said that Mr Balram Yadav, the senior minister who had been sacked for facilitating the merger with the Qaumi Ekta Dal should be taken back into the ministry. This is the first time that the chief minister spoke on the issue and made his stand clear. Mr Shivpal Singh Yadav reportedly maintained a neutral stand during the meeting which finally made Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav retract his steps. Earlier in the day, while speaking at a conclave organised by a media house, Mr Akhilesh Yadav categorically stated that he did not want "people like Mukhtar Ansari in the party". Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav had earlier approved the merger with QED since he felt that this would help the party win seats in eastern UP where QED leaders wield influence
